“Songs of Gratitude” – Maui AMPFest Live in Wailuku

maui music2.4

Aloha Folks,
In addition to the Video/TV version of the next Maui AMPFest – “Songs of Gratitude” we will be holding a live event to benefit the Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Center (KHAKO) in Wailuku, Maui.

The event on November 14th will begin with a prayer walk to Iao Valley, (7am) from the State Building and back, followed by an all day “Open House” event including live music from 2-6 and plenty food and fun. In addition “Grow The Change” will be opening the food forest at the resource center to all attendees, with a keiki art show and info on community gardens.

We’re looking at having three local bands who offered their time and talent. If you would like to contribute to the event in any way, please contact either myself, Philip Scott Wikel lord.greystoke@gmail.com or Peggy at 808-281-6020 or Erin Lowenthal, Resource Center CEO, at erin.lowenthal@khako.org.

Aidan James: One of the Ones…

18810_831205506954916_4632523923777864689_nAidan James is a fourteen year old singer/musician from a place steeped in tradition with its culture, music, and dance – Hawaii. The ukulele is part of that tradition and Aidan’s instrument of choice. However, he’s doing something different… Aidan brings the ukulele beyond its traditional Hawaiian roots. Equipped with a looping station and effect pedals, Aidan strives to push the limits of the ukulele by incorporating its distinct sound into a pop/rock/folk sound.

With experience beyond his years, Aidan James first came to recognition when a YouTube video of him performing quickly earned millions of views. Currently, his YouTube videos have collectively over twenty million views. His musical journey has taken him across the US and Japan to include a performance for a crowd of 30,000 people at the NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii and an appearance in the current CBS hit show “Hawaii Five-0”. Aidan has shared the stage with the likes of the band Train, Jack Johnson, and Mick Fleetwood.

Aloha Nui Loa and Thanks For Watching!

All this in one video you ask?

maui music_openingFinishing up production on the Aloha Maui “Mixed Plate” Music Video Fest and I think I’ve become one with the machine. For better or for worse I am a laptop with magical software. We’ve spent the past 7 days conspiring to create what we hope will be “the” event or at least “an” event of your year. We’re both tired and overheated but we think we might have created something cool, something fun, and something edifying. All this in one video you ask? Well, she’s one hour and fifteen minutes long. Chances are there might be something worthwhile somewhere in there. We’ll be giving away the first 50 copies. So watch out, a couple of strangers might just force a free DVD on you.

The Inaugural (AMPFest) Aloha Maui “Mixed Plate” Video Fest

The Inaugural Aloha Maui “Mixed Plate” Video Fest (AMPFest) is less than two weeks away. We’re working with Aidan James and Ekolu Kalama and it should be a fantastic lineup. In addition to our local greats, we’ll have musicians from Germany, China, Portugal, France, India, The Phillipines and the mainland. It’s all about spreading the Aloha Spirit around the world. The event is May 15th. Here’s the intro video:

Spreading Aloha Around The World…

We’re working on creating the First Aloha Maui Mixed Plate Music Video Fest and are looking for Alternative, Rock, Experimental, and Electronic artists to take part. There’s no submission fee. Date is May 15th. Bands are not required to come to Maui.

We just need an original video directly from you or a link where we can download it. Beyond that we’re going to need a 30 second shoutout with your band name, song description, and a shout out to your fans. Sign up now! No submission fee. We just love music and musicians. What do you have to lose?
